Herb Roasted Turkey Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 (14-16 pound) turkey, thawed if frozen
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 6 tablespoons Dalkin & Co. Gaby’s Everyday seasoning blend
  • 2 teaspoons coarse salt
  • 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Thawing: If your turkey is frozen, allow it to thaw in the fridge for several days before cooking.
  2. Preparation: Take the turkey out of the brine (if using) or the refrigerator, remove the giblets, and pat it dry with paper towels. Let it rest on a baking sheet for 2 hours to come to room temperature.
  3. Seasoning: In a small bowl, mix the butter with Gaby’s Everyday until evenly combined.
  4. Butter and Season: Place the turkey, breast side up, on a metal rack in a large roasting pan. Rub the butter mixture all over the turkey and season generously with salt and pepper.
  5. Roasting: Preheat your oven to 450°F. Position the oven rack on the lowest level, then roast the turkey for 30 minutes at 450°F.
  6. Continue Cooking: After 30 minutes, reduce the oven temperature to 350°F. Continue roasting the turkey for about 2 more hours, basting with pan drippings and rotating the pan every 30-45 minutes.
  7. Checking for Doneness: After 2.5 hours, check the turkey's internal temperature in the thickest part – it should read 165°F. If not, continue roasting until it does. Once removed from the oven, the temperature will rise to around 170°F as it rests.

8. Crisping the Skin (if needed): If you need a golden brown finish, increase the oven to 450°F and roast for an additional 15 minutes.
